A Letter [America X Reader]

The American moved out of his car, carrying a bouquet of flowers as he walked through the cemented pathway. It had already been a year since that tragic...death that happened to this certain [Nationality] girl he loved, and he felt a bit guilty as to not being able to visit her so often as he did before. So here he was now, having a day off from his Boss and gave the time to his dearly beloved.

Ariving in front of [Name]'s grave stone, Alfred had said nothing. He just stared at it, a sad smile scribbled on his face. He started thinking about the past.. all those memories he had spent with you.. the laughter, the tears, everything. But he didn't cry. Not yet. No words were said as he placed the bouquet of [flowers] on her grave stone. He reached into the pocket of his bomber jacket and took out a piece of paper, slipping it just between two pieces of [flowers]. He stood up and turned his back away from the grave stone, just before a tear escaped his eye. He wasn't about to let [Name] see him cry.

~~
It was a bright Saturday morning when the [h/c] haired girl decided to visit. She skipped along the cemented paths as the wind zipped through her hair, as if greeting her a good morning. She smiled at the sky in return as her eyes suddenly caught sight of a certain grave stone. There were flowers rested i front it, probably from her best friend again. But as she approached it, she was wrong. It wasn't from Lili, it was actually from Alfred...

Her heart suddenly started to beat fast as she held the bouquet of [flowers] and sniffed it. Alfred.. he knew exactly what she liked. It'd already been a few months since he had last visited her.. probably because of the politics and problems of the country. Alfred was so brave, and even though he was aching inside, he still kept that smile on his face. Maybe that was why she fell so deeply in love with him. Remembering all the moments, the good and the bad, she smiled.

Taking a step back to sit beside the stone, something fell from the bouquet she held. Looking down, she saw a letter. She sat beside the grave stone and took the piece of paper and almost immediately she spots her name written neatly at the back of it. If Alfred had written this himself, she'd congratulate him, for the penmanship was as neat as how her friend Roderich would have written it. She chuckled.

"Dear [Name]," she read. "Its been a while hasnt it?" She rolled her eyes, he was really stating the obvious here. "Sorry I haven't been visiting so much. Its just that.. y'know, there'r problems in the government and whateves. Its so frustrating." she could imagine Alfred literally letting out a sigh while writing the lines.

"I wish I could be human.. If I was, I wouldn't have to think of you for the rest of American history and wallow in my thoughts. I could be with you.. wherever you are." [Name] felt a sinking feeling in her heart as she read through the lines. Alfred, before, had brought up this subject once or twice. About being human and just live with her. She thought he was joking. No country would actually think that, would they? And even when they hoped, it would still all be in vain.

"Sometimes, I wish I hadn't fallen in love with you, yet, I can't really imagine my life without you." That sinking feeling started getting to her. Her stomach started to churn and now she was trying her best at holding back her tears.. but the letter was for her, and she needed to finish reading it.

"I know I said I was sorry for not visiting you often, but what I'm really sorry about is not being able to be there for you when you needed me. If you were here right now, I know you'd probably say that your death wasn't my fault. Even if it wasn't, I still feel guilty."

"Also, why'd you have to leave me behind, anyways?" [Name] started to hold onto the paper a bit too tight, crumpling it a bit. "You knew that I would just keep living until my country somehow disappeared, and that I would be broken-hearted.. So, [Name].. why?" She found her hand resting on her mouth as hiccups escaped it and tears flowed none stop, making roads of liquid run down her cheeks. If only Alfred knew how much she wanted to be with him. How much she wanted to be immortal..like him.

"I realized that you were trying to be a hero-- MY hero, but didn't you think about how I'd feel afterward? Did you consider how shattered I'd be after your death? As a human you dont live as long as me--..." She held the paper down, stopping herself from reading. She took a deep breath, but it was no use, her tears just kept on falling and falling none stop as soft sounds of sobbing escaped her mouth.

"I'm sorry Alfred. I really am." She whispered as the back of her palm rested on top of her eye as she let herself slouch to the ground, sobbing softly.

[Name] brought the paper back up to his head and read a little more, "I should'v just listened to France.. humans and countries shouldn't go together. But still.. [Name].. I just can't help but love you, and I still do..." she felt a presence in front of her, and she looked up, her eyes grew wide as tears slipped through them. It was Alfred.

He stood a couple of feet away from her grave stone, but he couldn't see her. No body can, now. But just before he left, he whispered something that made [Name] promise she'd do, even for an eternity long.

"Please, [Name]... somehow.. wait for me."
